The Wizard and (Dr) Oz

'Calories in vs calories out' does NOT explain obesity.  It is all to do with hormones.  That is how your body functions - at the hormonal level, not at the mouth!

Taubes in fine flow.  Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3.

That Dr Oz was so annoying....and patronising.

As CarbSane pointed out, I don't think Gary came out as well as perhaps he could have - but then it is a big ask to do that, and we don't know how it was edited.

But Oz was terrible!

Thank you for posting this. My wife is still recording Dr. Oz although I've been imploring her not to.

I thought Gary did pretty well considering how orchestrated the whole show is (was). Dr. Oz' logic got pretty tortured and Gary stuck to the science and the facts. Despite the bias of the show, hopefully Gary was able to reach some people that would otherwise be in a death spiral of obesity and metabolic syndrome.

Hi Anonymous. Agreed. It is brave of GT to go on to such a show where Oz is clearly practicing 'info-tainment'.

I notice tjat Dr Oz repeats the pont that Taubes' work has made the medical world 'kick the tyres' of what they know and recommend about weightloss. But in reality have the medical establishment reconsidered their 'eat less, do more' mantra? No they haven't!

This is where we have to give GT credit. He is sticking his neck out and trying to change things. He might not have all the answers, but at least he has evidence that the current 'answer' to obesity requires a second opinion.
