RTK Wk4 W/O3

If you have not already done so then you really should listen to Jimmy Moore's interview with Art DeVany.  It is aabsolutely entertaining and rich in both breadth and depth.  Art really holds your attention with his ideas, some of which are truly amazing and comes across as very personable and engaging.

The aim today is to repeat last Friday's workout but to OWN the deadlift.  I will try not to put the weight down between reps on the first set (or to simply put it down fewer times).

Warm Up (5 mins)
Main (35 mins)
1a.Deadlift (4X137kg , 5X123kg)
1b. One Arm Chin Ups (5x49, 6x44, 7x39)
2. Wall Walk/Back Bridge to In-L-Sit (2, 10s, 10s)
3. HSPUs/Lowers/Dumbell Press (6x16kg, 7x14kg, 8x12kg)
4. Ice Cream Makers (4, 4, 4)
5.Four-Way Rotator Cuff (10)

I had to put the weight down in the deadlift for the last rep only.  My fingers were just seeking to uncurl.  Still, an improvement nonetheless.  The chinning felt solid but once again the HSPUs were just not there.  After the rest of the workout my mate (claimng to feel 'ready to do more'), offered that we go out and sprint.

Three sets of inclined field sprints (15s run and 45s rest), claimed his 'ready to do more' energy!  Mine as well.

Art is always good value....but I find Jimmy really irritating A nice guy but just irritating. A big thing for me is the gross inconsistency that is apparent with Jimmy Moore and his interviews. He has been exposed to so many great thinkers and writers yet he himself remains obese.

"He has been exposed to so many great thinkers and writers yet he himself remains obese." - I am not sure how far down the LC or paleo road Jimmy goes, but I do wonder if he is one of these people who have simply trashed their metabolism so badly that they will never likely be lean? Or at least never able to do what is required to be lean. Hyperobesity has to be the ultimate 'black swan', leaving a deep impression on your metabolism.

Whilst we are naming names, some of Art's posts can appear rather ...let's say 'terse', but in most interviews I have seen with him he comes across as absolutely genuine and original. I really do look forwards to hearing interviews with him and they are usually worth a few listenings just to extract all the ideas within.

Agreed - I feel a bit bad now about naming names....Jimmy does a lot of good work.

Art is great. Some of his old posts on his blog when it was free to access were priceless. There was one about dogs barking when he walked past due to the amount of testosterone he was exuding. His total synthesis of diet and activity is superb though and unique.

That is a VERY self confident analysis of the situtation from Art!
